1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Granade Technology Solutions (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use ZoeGroups, including the ZoeGroups website at app.zoegroups.net and the ZoeGroups mobile applications for Android and iOS (collectively, the “Services”).
ZoeGroups is a multi-tenant platform for family and small-group Bible study. We designed it to collect as little information about you as reasonably possible while still providing the Services.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@granade.us.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. You may optionally provide a first name and last name.
- Authentication credentials. If you set a password, we store a one-way hash of it. We do not store your password in readable form. Most users authenticate by email magic link or one-time passcode (OTP) rather than a password.
- Study activity. When you complete a daily reading, mark progress, enroll in a study term, or interact with study content, we record that activity so the app can show your progress and group activity.
- Communications. If you contact support, we keep a record of that communication.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and connection information. When you use the Services, our servers receive standard technical information such as your IP address, device type, operating system version, and app version. This is used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Services.
- Session cookies. The website uses strictly necessary cookies for authentication and to prevent cross-site request forgery.
- App logs. The mobile app and server keep error and diagnostic logs to help us fix problems. These logs may include device identifiers and timestamps.
2.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise or approximate location.
- We do not access your contacts, calendar, camera, microphone, photos, or files unless you explicitly choose to share something with the Services.
- We do not use third-party advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social media trackers in the mobile apps.
- We do not collect health information, payment information, or government identifiers.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Services;
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- Show you your study progress and the progress of people in your group;
- Send you transactional messages such as magic links, one-time passcodes, password resets, and important service notices;
- Diagnose and fix technical problems;
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information for advertising or behavioral profiling.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as described below:
- With your group. ZoeGroups is a group study application. People you are studying with can see your display name and your study progress (such as which readings you have completed) for the term in which you are jointly enrolled. They cannot see your email address, password, or device information.
- With your tenant administrator. If you joined ZoeGroups through a church, family, or organization, the administrator of that tenant can see your account information and activity within the tenant.
- With service providers. We use Microsoft Azure for hosting and Azure Communication Services for transactional email. These providers process information on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
- In a business transfer. If Granade Technology Solutions is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account information and study activity for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it longer for legal, security, or accounting purposes. Backup copies may persist for up to 90 additional days before being overwritten.
Server logs containing IP addresses and diagnostic information are retained for up to 90 days.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Account and data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. Two ways:
- From the mobile app or website: open Account Settings and choose “Delete account.”
- By email: send a request from your registered email address to privacy@granade.us with the subject “Delete my account.”
You can also visit our Account Deletion page for full instructions and details about what is deleted and what is retained.
6.2 Access and correction
You can review and update most of your account information from within the app. If you need access to information we hold about you that is not visible in the app, email privacy@granade.us.
6.3 Regional rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), or other regional privacy laws. These may include the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal information, and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@granade.us. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA or similar laws.
7. Children’s Privacy
ZoeGroups is designed for use by families and small groups. Children may participate in study content through an account managed by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact privacy@granade.us and we will delete that information.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted data stores, hashed passwords, role-based access control, and short-lived authentication tokens. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Users
The Services are operated from the United States and hosted on Microsoft Azure in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (sent to the address associated with your account) or by posting a notice in the app before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
